FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ANNOUNCEMENT: Notice of Intent

CLASSIFICATION CODE: 66 - Instruments and Laboratory Equipment

SUBJECT: Procurement of a Broadly Tunable Narrow-Band Source

SOLICITATION NUMBER: 1333ND19QNB680197

CONTACT POINTS: Robert Cowins, Contract Specialist (301) 975-8335

DESCRIPTION: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b) with NIR Future Inc. for the acquisition of Broadly Tunable Narrow-Band Source. This equipment will used by the NIST Physical Measurement Laboratory (PML), in Gaithersburg, MD.

***** Sole source determination is based on the need to acquire a source that possesses wide spectral coverage, but narrow-band spectral output at any setting. The spectral output must be 'pure' with little if any 'leaks' at other wavelengths. NIR Future Inc.’s supercontinuum-laser line tunable filter source is the only source identified that meets the required specifications.

***** The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees.

****** A determination by the Government whether to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.

*****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations.

Interested parties that believe they can satisfy the requirements listed above must identify their capability in writing before the response date of this notice. Only responses received by April 12, 2019, 12:00 p.m., EST will be considered by the government. Responses shall be submitted via email to robert.cowins@nist.gov.
