Combined Synopsis/Solicitation Request for Quotation Number 1333ND19QNB640705 Attachment I The microbalance and ultra-microbalance must satisfy BOTH the following salient characteristics, as well as the resolution requirements specific to the type of balance. In the context here, “typical” means the value normally seen by operators.

Salient Characteristics for Microbalance and Ultra Microbalances:

· Capability of suspending a sample from below the weigh pan and measuring the force; this may be with or without the weigh pan (and another mass on the weigh pan)

· Maximum Capacity: 6.1 g

· Overload protection so that the balance is not damaged if more than 6.1 g is placed on the weigh pan or suspended from below the weigh pan.

· Tare Range: from 0 g to 6.1 g

· Linearity deviation: (maximum) 4 ug;

· Sensitivity Offset at 6 g: (maximum) 48 ug; (typical) 18 ug

· Sensitivity temperature drift: at least 0.0001%/K

· Sensitivity Stability: at least 0.0001%/year; please specify how it is calculated

· Operating temperature range: 10 oC - 30 oC

· Operating humidity range: please specify

· Provide automated (“active”) temperature control to compensate for changes in temperature (especially as the balance electronics warm up) assuming environment is within operating humidity/temperature ranges.

· Provide proper grounding and shielding to eliminate all issues with static inside the balance (assuming environment is within operating humidity/temperature ranges).

· Magnetic Force Restoration weighing sensor

· Settling time after movement (placement of sample on pan, vertical movement of balance on stage): < 15 seconds

· Draft shield that can be operated remotely and/or non-contact as well as manually

· Has two operating terminals – one on the balance itself, and the other a remote terminal connected to the balance by a cable.

· Automated level control (manual adjustment of feet level, but instrument identifies if instrument is out of balance and how feet need to be adjusted to bring it back in balance.)

· USB connectivity to computer with at least a 4.5 m cable

· Automated software for data readout via LabVIEW and/or python programs

· Foot print (maximum): 12cm (wide) x 35 cm (long) x 19 cm (high)

· Two (2) sets of manuals for each balance

· The manual may be supplied in hard copy or electronic format (or both).

· The manual must cover the proper operation, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting for the instrument, all components, and controlling software

· All cables and/or connectors (e.g., power cable, USB cable) necessary for the operation of the balances shall be provided.

Additional Salient Characteristics for Microbalance:

· Readability: at least 0.5 ug

· Repeatability at 5 % load: (maximum) 0.5 ug; (typical) 0.3 ug

· Eccentricity: (maximum) 3 ug at 2 g; (typical) 2 ug at 2 g

· Minimum Sample Weight: at most 60 ug

· Settling time after loading sample before achieving stable value: < 8 s

Additional Salient Characteristics for Ultra-Microbalances:

· Readability: at least 0.1 ug

· Repeatability at 5 % load: (maximum) 0.25 ug; (typical) 0.15 ug

· Eccentricity: (maximum) 2 ug at 2 g; (typical) 1.2 ug at 2 g

· Minimum Sample Weight: at most 30 ug

· Settling time after loading sample before achieving stable value: < 15 s

Warranty:

The Contractor shall provide, at a minimum, a one-year warranty for each balance. The warranty shall cover all parts, labor and shipping costs. The warranty shall commence upon final acceptance by the Government. Final acceptance will not be granted by the Government until all salient characteristics have been demonstrated for all equipment.

DELIVERY

The delivery date shall be six (6) months from award of this requirement.
