STATEMENT OF WORK

TITLE: Creo Elements/Direct Manager Server Database File Update

Background The Research Facility Operations (RFO) Mechanical Engineering group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) is responsible for designing, constructing, and maintaining neutron research instruments for the scientific community. The RFO Mechanical Engineering group relies on computer aided design (CAD) software to produce 2D and 3D data. The NCNR CAD database has been migrated multiples times since its inception to new database types as the database types in use became obsolete. The existing NCNR CAD database consists of PTC Creo Elements Direct Manager Server software using a Microsoft SQL Server database. The database has close to 500,000 elements with a file storage area containing over 3 million files filling almost 300 gigabytes of storage space. This is for a contractor to develop a software tool that will update the files in the database while maintaining the file attributes, links, and other important data.

Scope The Contractor shall draft a Software Tool Development Plan and design a tool as described in the development plan, that will automatically detect 3D CAD files older than a to be determined file version and to overwrite them in the PTC Creo Elements/Direct Manager Server database while maintaining existing database links and file attributes.

tasks Task 1, Software Tool Development Plan The contractor shall develop a detailed development plan for developing, testing, and implementing a tool to automatically detect files older than a to be determined version and then overwrite these files without changing any existing database links or attributes. The tool shall integrate seamlessly with the existing PTC Creo Elements Direct Manager Server implementation at the NCNR and shall run automatically when a 3D load is initiated. If 3D files older than a to be determined version are detected the tool shall alert the user with a prompt to choose whether or not the tool shall overwrite these 3D files with new 3D files. If the user chooses to overwrite the files, the Contractor developed tool shall create new files and overwrite the existing files in the file storage area on the server. The overwrite process shall take place in the background and shall not change any of the Model Manager part or master data attributes including owner, created date, modified date, name, etc. and existing links in the database shall be maintained.

Task 2, Software Tool Prototype The contractor shall build a prototype of the Software Tool to implement and test on a test server and a test client. Delivery of the Software Tool Prototype shall include the following documents and files:

· Required files to implement the software tool on a test server and test client.

· Software Tool Installation Instructions, which include instructions on how to run the test.

Task 3, Final Software Tool The Contractor shall develop the Software Tool based on the test results of the Software Tool Prototype and build the final version of the Software Tool. Delivery of the Software Tool shall include the following documents and files:

· Required files to implement the Software Tool on the production server and on the clients.

· Software Tool Documentation which describes how the software tool works, how to install the tool on the server and clients and source code for the tool itself.
