Pacific Southwest Research Station Riverside Fire Alarm System

PSW RIVERSIDE – FIRE ALARM SYSTEM

SECTION C - STATEMENT OF WORK

C.1 - Scope of Work

This project includes the installation of fire detection and alarm system components at the Pacific Southwest Research Station (PSW) – Riverside.

The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment to complete the project as shown on the drawings and included in the specifications. This includes any and all incidental work and materials necessary for the complete installation of new fire system components including, but not limited to, demolition, disposal, electrical, patching, painting, framing, control integration, programming, testing, and training. The Contractor is responsible for securing all permits, fees, and requirements from federal, state, and local authorities.

C.2 – Project Description

This project consists of the removal of existing fire alarm equipment and the installation / upgrade of fire alarm systems in Buildings 1, 2, and 3 at the PSW Riverside site. The project involves two unique fire alarm systems: (1) Building 1 & 2 fire alarm system, and (2) Building 3 fire alarm system.

A. Building 1 & 2 Fire Alarm System work shall include the following:

a. Removal and disposal of existing equipment as indicated on the drawings

b. Installation of a new fully addressable fire alarm system, including a control panel, remote annunciator(s), detectors, pull stations, and notification appliances as indicated on the drawings.

c. Installation and modification of addressable duct smoke detectors.

d. Programming and testing of all equipment.

e. Procurement of a fire alarm system permit from the local fire authority on behalf of the USDA

Forest Service (includes all fees, document preparation, management, and inspections to obtain the permit).

f. O&M Manual preparation and submittal.

g. Training of onsite personnel for new fire alarm system.

B. Building 3 Fire Alarm System work shall include the following:

a. Installation of new detectors, pull stations, notification appliances, and increased backup battery capacity (if necessary) to the existing fire alarm system.

b. Installation and modification of addressable duct smoke detectors.

c. Installation of waterflow detector(s) for monitoring of the existing fire sprinkler system by the fire alarm system.

d. Programming and testing of all equipment.

e. Procurement of a fire alarm system permit from the local fire authority on behalf of the USDA

Forest Service (includes all fees, document preparation, management, and inspections to obtain the permit).

f. O&M Manual preparation and submittal.

C. All fire alarm system work (including installation, testing, shutdown, etc.) shall be coordinated with the existing fire alarm monitoring service Contractor, Protection One: (951)782-6900.

D. Contractor shall be responsible for any and all incidental work in order to provide complete and fully functional fire alarm systems as described herein and within the drawings and specifications.

C.3 – Basis of Payment

Payment will be made at the Contract price, as indicated in the Schedule of Items, and will include full compensation for the work described in the contract including all incidentals. Carefully read the entire contents of this solicitation prior to bid reply. Bidders are further cautioned to fully inspect the entire project work site(s) and investigate transportation, weather, and local labor conditions. Any award will be to one bidder.

Payment will be made under:

Pay Item (1) – “Building 1 & 2 - Fire Alarm System.” Includes the complete installation of all new fire detection and alarm system equipment in Buildings 1 & 2 as described herein and designated in the drawings and specifications including all incidentals necessary for a complete functional fire alarm system. Includes the connection and integration of all existing equipment and new equipment. Incidentals include but are not limited to demolition, disposal, electrical, patching, painting, control integration, programming, testing, and training.

Pay Item (2) – “Building 3 Base - Fire Alarm System Upgrades.” Includes the complete installation of all new fire detection and alarm system equipment in Building 3 as described herein and designated in the drawing and specifications including all incidentals necessary for a complete functional fire alarm system. Includes the connection and integration of all existing equipment and new equipment. Incidentals include but are not limited to demolition, disposal, electrical, patching, painting, control integration, programming, testing, and training.

C.4 - Project Location

Work areas are located in Riverside County, CA, at the USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Research Station

- Riverside: 4955 Canyon Crest Drive, Riverside, CA 92507.

C.5 – Time of Performance 60 Calendar Days.

Contractor must begin work within 10 days of the effective date of the Notice to Proceed.
