Bailey Creek AOP Bridges (129AC719B0001) Questions and Answers Document

Subsequent versions of this document will contain questions from all previous versions.

Version 1: 04/15/2019

Q1 - Any idea when the site will be accessible?

A1 – There is currently still several feet of snow with additional accumulation as a recent storms. The bid closing date is being extended until 06/03/2019 as site accessibility is not expected until the middle of May.

Q2 - Do you have an estimated flow rate in Bailey Creek during the summer months? The plans indicate flows during a 100 year storm, but I was wondering what they would realistically be during construction. Is there a minimum flow rate that we have to design our bypass system for?

A2 – See attached StreamStats reports

Q3 - It appears that there is a minor amount of roadway excavation and embankment and possibly waste (sheet 8). There are no section 204 bid items or quantities given for this work.

Please revise the bid schedule to allow for this work.

A3 – In looking at sheet 8, it shows that there is some minor excavation shown within the existing road prism some of which extends below subgrade in the existing road. In examining the bid schedule there are two Bid Items associated with Section 204.

In reviewing the Supplemental Specification for the project there is no Type A or B Drainage Excavation in the Measurement portion of the section. There is however a description of Roadway Excavation as terms of

(a) Roadway excavation:

(1)(a) Roadway Prism Excavation;

(b) Rock Material excavated and removed from below subgrade in cut sections;

(c) Unsuitable material excavated and removed from below subgrade in cut sections;

areas when a pay item for sub excavation is not shown in the bid schedule;

(d) Ditches, except furrow ditches measured under as separate bid item;

The Designer who prepared the plans is not available to us to ask these types of questions. It is our interpretation that the work being asked about by this question is currently shown on the Schedule of Items as follows:

20418A Drainage Excavation, Type A ……………. 1,115 CY 20418B Drainage Excavation, Type B ……………. 730 CY
