(vi) Description of Requirement (including a list of any attachments)

Laundry services of multiple Government-furnished Fire Cache supply items Services include wash, dry and air dry of certain items.

The Contractor will ensure the cleaned items are free of stains, dirt, and debris. Large quantities of Fire Cache supply items may vary and require same day or 24-hour service to meet the demand of our Fire Season.

Washing procedures for Nomex clothing such as Shirts, Jeans and Flight suits.

Garments of Nomex should be washed separately from other articles to avoid contamination with lint of flammable fibers.

Tests show that formulations designed for use at a temperature of 140oF (60oC) or less such as high-surfactant, low-alkalinity products – adequately clean NOMEX and provide the best fabric color retention.

For heavily stained and oily garments of NOMEX a higher temperature wash formula may be required for adequate cleaning.

Garments made of NOMEX must be adequately rinsed to remove residual wash chemicals.

In some instances, tumble dry conditioning is the only finishing necessary for garments of NOMEX.

Dry cleaning is an alternative method of removing heavy soil and may be preferable to repeated high-temperature washing.

All Sleeping Bags: Zip close before laundering – Front loader machines. Use mild soap in water of no more than 130o F. Bags shall undergo one wash and rinse cycle. i.e., wash, rinse sterilize with a bleach solution of 50 ppm in the last wash cycle – With bag unzipped, dry in a tumble dryer with an average temperature not to exceed 130 F.
