Attachment 001 Rev 1 Benchtop Bioreactor System Manhattan KS Specifications

Background and Scope The USDA Biologics Development Module requires a modular, flexible benchtop bioreactor/fermentation system that is compatible with bacterial, mammalian, yeast, and insect cell culture at volumes up to 2 L.

Applicable Documents and Standards

A. Contractor must warranty the proper function, parts, software, and workmanship of the bioreactor system for 1 year as part of the initial purchase price.

Bioreactor/Fermenter 2 L Specifications:

One (1) Each bioreactor/fermenter system Brand Name or Equal to Eppendorf DASGIP system Salient Characteristics:

1. Must have a controller that can support parallel operation of up to 16 glass or single-use bioreactors.

2. Must be suitable for cell culture and microbial fermentation.

3. Must have modular design of control units to allow for flexible system configurations for multiple applications.

4. Must support control of agitation, pH, and DO in each bioreactor.

5. Must have variable speed pumps for accurate liquid addition and support operation in batch, fed-batch, continuous, and cyclic perfusion modes.

6. Must have onboard optical absorbance measurement for online calculation of OD600 and/or dry cell weight.

7. Must support individual gas mixing of air, N2, O2 and CO2.

8. Must have integrated heating and cooling control.

9. Unit must include at least 12, up to 16 glass fermentation/bioreactor vessels of size ~75-125 mLs.

Testing and Verification Qualification via a customer site acceptance test will be the verification standard.

Data Requirements Required documentation must include operation manual, software manual, software installation procedures. Required software for operation must be included.

Packaging and Shipping All packaging, shipping, and shipping-insurance costs must be included with purchase price.
