Questions and Answers
Project: Replace Lab Sanitary Sewage Piping
Solicitation Number: 12805B20Q0065
Questions
1. Should we anticipate hazardous materials during the pipe demolition? Such as joint compound or deck insulation. There was no pipe insulation observed on the drain lines. If so, is any testing and abatement by USDA or by contractor? This would be difficult to define at bid time without testing in advance.
Answer
No hazardous material other than lead joints for cast iron piping connections are expected. Deck insulation does not contain asbestos. If any material is determined to be suspect and needs to be tested, contractor will submit request for change order for testing and abatement if necessary.
2. Is the building anticipated to be fully occupied at time of project award? If so, will this work need to be completed after hours to allow use of the plumbing drains by day?
Answer
The building will occupied during the work. The Contractor will need to work with the Government to schedule work. Contractor will work with the Government to limit downtime of the system to extent possible. All systems should be operational at the end of the work day. The Government will permit after-hours work with proper scheduling. No additional compensation will be provided for after-hours work.
