About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for Solicitation 127EAY25Q0018 regarding Animal Packing Services into Wilderness Areas. The Q&A addresses scheduling details for the contract, specifically clarifying the flexibility of the 14-day packing service period. The response indicates there is no fixed regular schedule for these trips, and the contract was developed to supplement agency packing capabilities during high-demand periods.

The contract involves packing services in Northern California's Trinity Alps, Russian, and Marble Mountain Wilderness Areas, supporting post-fire trail recovery work. While the agency aims to avoid weekend trips, the contractor may need to perform packing services with varying frequency, including scenarios such as packing a group in and out within the same week or conducting midweek resupply missions for backcountry crews. The flexibility allows the Forest Service to address unpredictable logistical needs in wilderness areas.

127EAY25Q0018 Animal Packing Services into Wilderness Areas

Q1: In the SOW it talks about the 14 days being scheduled after award.

However, is there a general idea of how often these trips would be scheduled approximately? for example once a week, or maybe monday and friday of the same week etc?

A1: There is no regular schedule for these 14 days. This contract was developed to alleviate situations where the number of trips needed exceeded what agency packers could handle. There are some instances where it will be packing a group in and out in the same week. As well as other times where it will be a Tuesday resupply for the CCC Backcountry crew. We are trying to avoid packing on weekends but there could be a random weekend trip.
