Questions received from Contractor visit on 8/28/2020

1) What is the approximate elevation of the existing groundwater in this area?

The ground water level varies depending on weather conditions and location, at the current moment, it is estimated at approximately 4 feet to 8 feet from surface.

2) If dewatering is required, where can the water be discharged?

Dewatering will need to be sent to the sanitary sewer.

Yes, the 2” PVC drain is required to be removed from the vault to the sedge of the prairie grass area. Excavate only to edge of the prairie grass then attempt to pull out remainder. If it cannot be pulled out, then the remaining section under the prairie grass is to be abandoned in place. Do not excavate in prairie grass area.

4) The existing parking lot is asphalt, please verify that it is to be replaced with concrete.

Yes, this is correct.

All contractors need to be US Citizens and have a valid photo ID.

11) Please provide the depth of the sanitary sewer shown to cross the pipeline being removed in the middle of the lawn area.

The 8” sanitary sewer from Building 21 is approximately 6’ deep and crosses over the piping to be removed. The sanitary sewer is shown on Sheets 2 & 3 of the drawing.

12) There are 2 electrical manholes between the pipeline being removed and the sidewalk along the west side of the lawn area. However, there are no electrical utilities shown on the drawings in this area. Would you please provide additional information on the location and depth of these unidentified utilities?

The electric supply for Building 21 (the Building north of Valve Vault 107) runs from the vault with the electric manholes east to building 21 and crosses over the piping to be removed. The electric duct is approximately 3’ to 6’ deep and needs to be field verified.
