Waupee Dam Amendment 2 July 23, 2019
1. The below quantities listed on the schedule of items are used for the following:
1. Backfill: LCY 1263 - Backfilling the trench for the proposed concrete pipe and drop inlet.
1. Excavation: BCY 1010 – Excavation for the proposed concrete pipe and drop inlet.
1. Compaction: ECY 1263 – Compacting the backfill for the proposed concrete pipe and drop inlet.
1. Type 1 filter: CY 40 – Filter around the proposed concrete pipe (see sheet 8).
1. Open graded Stone: CY 57 – This is labeled as ‘structural fill’ on sheet 7 underneath the drop inlet and wing walls.
1. Geo-Synthetic Fabric: SY 15 – Underneath outlet riprap.
1. Schedule of Items changes:
1. Line 18, Open Graded Stone, estimated quantity is changed from 57 to 19 cubic yards.
1. Line 26, Bedding, units are changed from sy (square yards) to cy (cubic yards).
1. Medium riprap and bedding are only for the spillway. The outfall area uses geotextile fabric. The heavy riprap includes both the spillway and the outfall area.
1. Soil boring data is being provided.
1. The Tracking Pad is paid in Line 1 Mobilization.
1. Question: We are looking at the plan on Sheet 4 which shows the locations of Boring B-1 and B-2. On Sheet 11, shows the plan location of Boring B-2 and the note on Sheet 11 that states bedrock is down 9.5’ (normal pool at 942, down 9.5’) puts bedrock down at approx. El 933. Now look at Sheet 7. The design at inlet structure calls for sheeting to be down 17’ from approx. El 934.86. This means B-2 is showing bedrock at El 933, and B-1 is assuming bedrock down at El 917.00. A difference in bedrock depth of 16’, yet borings were taken somewhat near each other…approx. 80’ apart.
Answer: The assumption that bedrock is at elevation 933 is incorrect, the ground surface elevation of B-2 is approximately 946. The drawing note ‘Known bedrock depth @ boring B-2=-9.5 feet’ is in reference to 9.5 feet below ground surface elevation and not 9.5 feet below normal pool
