Requests for Information Solicitation 12505B24R0026

Question 1: Do you just need plumbing and venting bid? Is someone else doing electrical and getting the new machine?

Answer 1: The proposal should include everything needed, i.e. plumbing, ventilation, electrical, fume hood, etc.

Question 2: Is there attic stock for the ACT available where the pip chaise is being demolished to above ceiling?

Answer 2: No ceiling tiles are available from the Location’s very limited stock.

Question 3: Should we spot paint the CMU wall to match assuming discoloration where pipes are run vertically? Will the owner perform touch ups?

Answer 3: The Contractor is required to paint the wall as indicated in SOW 15. (d) The extent of the Contractor painting is described as indicated above.

Question 4: To confirm scope on the flashing at the roof, are we to seal all seams on the ductwork at (3) fume hood exhaust locations, and fully cover the metal flashings with the liquid flashing? The SOW indicates (3) locations, but I think there were

(4) on that roof. Please advise.

Answer 4: One of the four fume hood exhausts is covered with EPDM—so that fume hood exhaust is not included in this SOW. There are three fume hood exhausts that are required to have liquid flashing applied as indicated in the various pictures. The pictures describe the extents of the application. Essentially, the horizontal curb caps are to be completely covered and the round duct is to be covered to the extents shown on the pictures.

Question 5: Is a licensed roofing contractor required to install the liquid flashing?

Answer 5: Per FAR clause 52.236.5 (c); “All work under this contract shall be performed in a skillful and workmanlike manner. The Contracting Officer may require, in writing, that the Contractor remove from the work any employee the Contracting Officer deems incompetent, careless, or otherwise objectionable.”

As far as jurisdictional trade questions, you would need to check with the roofers, as well as sheet metal workers unions. Locally, here in Peoria, IL area, it’s my understanding that the sheet metal workers would claim the work.
