Requests for Information Solicitation 12505B24R0023

Question 1: What’s the max spacing on woven wire stretches between bracing sets – before we need to add an intermediate bracing set?

Answer 1: 1200’, but if there is an existing bracing set, replace in that location.

Question 2: Field Barn 215: At the end of the feed bunks there is approximately 40 ft of 4 rail wood fence. Does that stay or go? If it goes, what type of fence?

Answer 2: Replace with Wood posts, fabric and wire like the rest of the perimeter.

Question 3: Are the spec of the fence and braces set in stone or are you open to suggestions?

Answer 3: Use the provided specifications.

Question 4: Is raw steel not primed or painted acceptable for posts, rails, and panels?

Answer 4: No. Use galvanized.

Question 5: Is raw steel primed and painted acceptable for this project?

Answer 5: No. Use galvanized.

Question 6: The Statement of Work often states "NLT 1.90" diameter with wall thickness no less than 0.145" wall. 1.5-inch, schedule 40, galvanized pipe is acceptable." This implies to me that both raw steel and galvanized is acceptable, can you please clarify if raw steel can be used for this project?

Answer 6: No raw steel. We will correct our Statement of Work for clarity in future projects.

Question 7: If ONLY galvanized steel is to be used, is hot dip galvanized material acceptable or does it need to be electro gal plated, or can any galvanized process coating be accepted?

Answer 7: Hot dipped is acceptable.

Question 8: Can we use material that exceeds your specs? For instance, if .190" to .210" wall thickness is required for 2.875" metal posts, could we use .276" wall thickness.

Answer 8: Yes.

Question 9: What/where is an "approved landfill site" for disposal of old material?

Answer 9: Contractor to find approved disposal location that accepts project waste.

Question 10: Can old fence wire, metal, gates, etc be disposed at a metal recycler (scrapper)?

Answer 10: Contractor to find approved disposal location that accepts project waste.

Question 11: Statement of Work, Add Option 1, section 4 b) Gates: mentions the removal and install of 5' (60") tall gates. It notes the bottom bar is at "4 inches above the ground" and the top of the gate shall be no more than 60" from the ground. Can you clarify if the gate needs to be 56" tall then in order to meet the specs?

Question 12: See attached Photo for clarification on Pastures 215 and 216. Are the areas indicated within our red circles to be removed and replaced? If so, are you requesting wire, wood panels, or pipe and panels to replace?

Answer 12: Wood posts, fabric and wire like the rest of the perimeter.

Question 13: Are caps required on pipe posts?

Answer 13: Yes

Question 14: When do you need insurance certificates?

Answer 14: With performance and payment bonds, within 14 days after award of contract.

Question 15: How long do you anticipate the check-in/out process and other formalities to take each day?

Answer 15: At least 5-10 minutes unless there is a long line of visitors.

Question 16: Are federal background checks required for each employee? If so, how long do you anticipate that process to be completed?

Answer 16: No

Question 17: Do the ends of the continuous fence panels need to be capped off?

Answer 17: Yes.

Question 18: Do the Superintendent, SSHO and QC Manager need to be 3 separate individuals?

Answer 18: No

Question 19: Are there any phasing requirements?

Answer 19: No

Question 20: Will animals be relocated or kept within the pastures as work is happening?

Answer 20: Animals will be removed from the working locations.

Question 21: Can the period of performance be extended after award once the material/equipment lead times are confirmed due to current market conditions for the equipment for this project?

Answer 21: Yes

Question 22: Are underground utility drawings available? If not, is it assumed that fence lines are clear or underground utilities?

Answer 22: Drawings are available.
