About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding a federal solicitation for a manure storage tank project. The project involves removing an existing concrete pad and plastic tank, and installing a new uninsulated 2-inch PVC Schedule 40 plumbing system that can be suspended from inside the facility and routed outside through a contractor-created penetration in the steel building. The electrical disconnect box on site may still be live, so contractors must verify the power status prior to demolition. The solicitation number is 12505B23Q0191 and is being conducted by the Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Field Research Implementation and Information Delivery Midwest Area.

SEE ANSWERS BELOW IN BLUE

1) Please confirm this is an open top tank. It is not an open top tank. See SOW paragraph 16.

2) Please confirm the exisng concrete pad is to be removed. The existing concrete is to be removed. See SOW paragraph 13, and page 9.

3) Is the exisng electrical disconnect on a completely dead circuit or is there power running to this box? It was indicated to me by the Location that the existing disconnect may have power, currently. The contractor is responsible for their own safety so it would be prudent for the contractor to field verify prior to demolition. See paragraph 11. The conductors would need to be removed back to the nearest junction box or panel.

4) Will the USDA keep the exisng white plasc tank or will contractor dispose of it? The Contractor will remove the plastic tank.

5) Please confirm the new plumbing will be 2” uninsulated PVC Schedule 40 that can be suspended from inside the facility and routed outside through a contractor created penetraon in the steel building? Yes, the intent is to match the existing piping inside the building. If insulation is required by code at the exterior then it must be provided.
