About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding a federal solicitation for vault toilet installation services on the Hiawatha National Forest in Michigan. The solicitation seeks a contractor to remove existing vault toilets at multiple sites, furnish and install prefabricated precast concrete vault toilet buildings that meet ADA standards, perform associated excavation and site work. The contractor must complete work at individual sites within specified date windows. The solicitation involves furnishing toilets and associated equipment such as propane heaters and concrete pads from the same manufacturer within each recreation site to ensure consistency of features. The questions and answers provide clarification on the number and size of trees to be removed at each site, acceptable dimensions for changing areas, and confirmation that the government will provide seed mixes and propane tanks.

Response: It is required that toilets be from the same manufacturer within each rec site at a minimum, i.e. 8 toilets for Little Bay/Hunter’s Point to maintain color, texture, finish, locks, etc., but the one for Valley Spur could be from a different manufacturer as long as it meets the specs identified in the contract package.
