1. Is it acceptable to use 9-gauge wire (industrial standard today) in lieu of 6-gauge wire Yes, 9-gauge is acceptable

2. Do you want to use “top rail” or “top tension wire” Top Tension Wire

3. Do you want overhead trolley gates, or do you want to use a standard 18’ canlever gate?

Standard 18’ cantilever gate, manual operation, with ability to lock.

4. Do you want a key fob entrance into the yard, if not is any “access-required” entrance No, the intent is for the gate to be retrofitted at a later date, manual pad lock for now.

5. Do you want free exit loops? N/A, sliding gate will be a manually operated.

6. Do you have a preference on the make and model for operators. a. Are the operators going to be on both slide gates? N/A, sliding gates will be manually operated.

7. Is 18’ swing gate going to remain manual? For this contract yes, the intent is to retro fit at a later date

8. Is it acceptable to size all post sizes to match ASCM 567? Any materials to be purchased may be submitted to the COR prior to purchasing to confirm it meets the specs. As long as the material meets or exceeds whats asked for then I don’t see a problem.

9. Do we need to grade area for the fence 30’ wide? Yes, the majority of the fence will be installed at existing grade with little grading needed. However, the East section of fencing will need grading as it goes through a sloped area. This area will need to be graded to approx. -2.4% and will need to be daylighted back out. This slopped area is/will be shown on the updated Site Plan Drawing.

10. Will the area be stacked out for project boundaries. I assume this is referring to survey staking.

Yes, by the USFS

11. Can all the trees from clearing be le on site? Tree debris may be left on the site and scattered per the COR. Tree stumps may be cut flush with the existing ground or removed as necessary for fence installation at the COR’s discretion.

12. Are there going to be better details and drawings than just the 1 page drawing/layout? Yes, a more detailed drawing is/has been created and will be provided.

13. **Vegetation Surrounding the Area:** Could you kindly share images of the vegetation surrounding the designated area where the fencing is required? This information will assist us in tailoring our approach to the specific environmental conditions. I will provide pictures to the CO – Jeremy Prince

14. **Ground Composition:** Are there any portions of the area designated for the fence installation that are composed of concrete? Additionally, could you confirm whether we will need to drill through concrete during the installation process? Should not encounter any concrete during installation. (the contract does require each gate post to be installed with a bag of concrete)

15. Also with the fence require too rail to go into the fence. Due the corner post have outriggers in them or can we just use brace bands? Brace rails are fine.

16. Confirming if there will be need for automatic opener for the sliding canlever gates for the project or not. Thank you. No required for this project. Two (2) manually operated 18’ sliding gates, and one (1) 18’ manually operated swing gate.

17. Will we have to provide safety fencing around the construction area? If so, how much of the area should we account for during construction? We can provide some we have available. We have 20 – 8’ sections of yellow metal fencing available for use, you can also use some red/white rope with a sign, there are different ways to do it, we can work with you on this.

18. Will there be a top rail on the fence? No, Tension wire will be used for the fence.

19. Please clarify clearing areas on each side of the fence. In the process of redefining clearing limits, will provide updated drawing to the CO shortly.

20. Will the gates be manual or electric? Manual

21. If electric where is the closest viable power source? N/A

22. Will there be access controls that we need to account for? No

23. Please confirm grading requirements. The northwest side of the fence has several berms and stockpiles of dirt that make the area very uneven. The east side of the jobsite will need grading, the limits/Area of this grading will be provided on an updated Site Plan Drawing

24. Will the larger trees (15”+) that fall within the clearing zones be marked? No, any tree falling within the clearing limits will need to be removed (stumps maybe cut flush to existing ground or stumps/roots removed as necessary to install fencing). The COR may allow some trees to remain at their discretion at the request of the contractor. However, when bidding, assume everything within the clearing limits will need to be cleared.

25. Will we have to cut and mulch the fallen trees or haul them off site? Fallen trees, debris may be cut and scattered outside the jobsite at the direction of the COR.

26. Will the fence line and gates be marked so the contractors can have another opportunity to visit the site? Yes, you may contact Jeremy at Jeremy.prince@usda.gov if you would like to visit the job site again.
