Questions STV Responses dated 28MAY21 shown in Bold, Italic Text.
1. The grade changes are mostly on the paving areas, have you quantified these areas?
Would it be fair to say these areas are being raised so a levelling course would be required. That being the case can a levelling course be added ( By the Ton) to bid sheet?
RESPONSE: It is the responsibility of the contractor to estimate from the bid documents. The paving on this project includes two different types; mill and overlay and removal and new bituminous paving including base course (full depth replacement). Refer to the Site Layout Plans for areas and type of new paving, and also the Site Details on Drawing C-511 – specifically the “Bituminous Paving” detail. A leveling course, in addition to the system called for in the Site Layout Plans and Site Details, is not required and therefore should not be added to the bid sheet.
2. Grade Changes – who is responsible for the survey and taking?
If the contractor is responsible for layout is their a cad file available for use and do we have to do an asbuilt afterward
RESPONSE: It is the responsibility of the contractor to do any necessary survey and staking.
A CAD file is available for use upon contract award. Record Documents, including As-Built Drawings, are required per Spec Section 017800 – Closeout Submittals, Paragraph 1.2.
3. Can you please clarify the following:
3.1 What does option 5 refer to, all phases?
RESPONSE: Option 5 refers to all phases, but is most applicable to Phases 2 and 3 where mill and overlay is called for.
3.2 Option 1 – Phase 2 ( refers to Phase 2 on the prints) and Option 2 – Phase 3 ( refers to Phase 3 on the prints) only?
RESPONSE: Yes, this is correct.
3.3 Phase 1 – Cresheim Creek to Lot 5 is Phase 5 area.
RESPONSE: Phase 1, from Cresheim Creek to Lot 5 as shown on the drawings, is the base bid. Phase 5 is Option 4 and is in vicinity of the Hazardous Operations building.
3.4 Is Phase 5 area Base bid and the other items are all options/alternates or are all items a base bid.
RESPONSE: Phase 1, from Cresheim Creek to Lot 5 as shown on the drawings, is the base bid. Phases 2 through 5 are options (Options 1 through 4), in addition to Option 5.
3.5 Will the job be split up amongst numerous contractors based on the phase pricing or awarded to 1 contractor.
RESPONSE: It is intended to award the project to only one (1) contractor.
4. What is a triangular paving notch.
RESPONSE: Refer to C-511, “Bituminous Paving Joint at Mill and Overlay Paving” and “Bituminous Paving Joint at Existing Paving” details. A triangular paving notch is not required for the “Mill and Overlay Paving Joint at Existing Bituminous Paving” detail.
