SITE VISIT MEETING NOTES, QUESTIONS & ANSWERS (Q&A)

INFORMATION SHARED:

The start work date is approximately mid-August

White Bark Pine trees are an endangered species and must be protected.

Waterlines/communication lines are mostly underneath and must be put back to useful condition.

The schedule for this work was not clear in the documents. It will be started in mid to late august and have a firm 60 day construction period.

See attached document to see the existing in ground vault as tie in location to line down from the storage tank. Tank is located uphill behind trees.

There will be no excavation beneath the Ullman Patio, where the vault is located.

Weekly meetings with contractor, FS, and Timberline for coordination of efforts

Some of the existing hydrants need to be retained and given to the government because they are historic.

Q&A

1. (Q) Access control? Who is responsible?

(A) The contractor will be responsible. Parking will be designated.

2. (Q) Fire levels? Could the start date possibly be changed?

(A) Start date is not an option. The Ranger will write an exception, if needed, so no delay

3. (Q) Until the replacement paving is accomplished is backfilling with gravel to grade accepatable?

(A) Yes

4. (Q) Coordination with on-going contracts? Parking issues?

(A) Yes, all existing government contracts are internal to the building and should not be an issue. There is one external contract that may need a little coordination if the option is awarded. This contract is at the loading dock and has to do with the end of the new retaining wall being installed. It is more cosmetic look than anything else and will be easy to resolve.

5. (Q) Who is responsible for the layout of the alignment?

(A) The contractor is responsible for the layout with the FS approving it.

6. (Q) What do we do with excavated materials?

(A) AS stated in specification 31 23 16, remove all excess material from the site. Dispose of off government property.

7. (Q) Does the alignment avoid masonry?

(A) The planned alignment avoids it.

8. (Q) Are there work hour restrictions?

(A) Yes, 9am-7pm. No noise (equipment operation) before 9am. May be asked to stop work early for weddings, etc. but this will be rare and you will have plenty of warning.

9. (Q) Bio-diesel required?

(A)No, Will amend, since most contractor’s machinery don’t run on it

10. (Q) Hand digging amount around roots?

(A) 5-10 % is estimated. Try to fall under the same alignment because it is the least impacted by roots.

11. (Q) Are there large rocks under the surface?

(A) Assume you will hit some rock for your bid. Most excavation will be a sandy/silty soil, but there is the occasional large rock.

12. (Q) Will shoring be needed?

(A) Yes there are some sections where the depth of the excavation will need shoring.
