1.5HP BLOWER
SPECIFICATION SHEET
1.5HP Blower Specification Sheet
1. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
1.1. This specification reflects those characteristics that are essential to the minimum needs of the government for the procurement of PORTABLE, INDUSTRIAL DUTY, VENTILATION BLOWER(S) supplied completely assembled, wired, tested, and ready for immediate use upon receipt.
1.2. Code 2310.7 engineering purchase approval is required prior to acceptance of bid. Seller must include a checklist of all salient characteristics either met or not met as part of the bid package. A vendor’s bid wherein certain criteria are NOT met will NOT necessarily cause an automatic rejection of the bid.
1.3. Code 2310.7 engineering reserves the right to request that a single unit be sent to PUGET SOUND NAVAL
SHIPYARD for inspection prior to affirming the purchase of remaining multiple units.
1.4. The point of contact for this technical specification sheet is Benson Altamira, Code 2310.7, Radiological
Ventilation Engineering, 360-627-3651.
2. BLOWER REQUIREMENTS
2.1. Blower Performance
2.1.1. Provide performance data (including blower curve graph) in delivery package.
2.1.2. Performance curve: peak of fan curve must manifest at CFM lower than approximately 400 CFM and static pressure greater than approximately 6 in. w.g.
~870 CFM @ 1 in. w.g. (0.8-1.5 in. w.g.)
~640 CFM @ 4 in. w.g. (3.2 to 6 in. w.g.)
~420 CFM @ 6 in. w.g. (4.8 to 9 in. w.g.)
~180 CFM @ 7 in. w.g. (5.6-10.5 in. w.g.)
2.2. Motor
2.2.1. Size: 1.5HP, 56HC Frame, 3450 RPM, SF: 1.15, NRTL listed motor
2.2.2. TEFC Motor capable of 115 to 230 VAC operation. Motor must be prewired for 230 VAC and all subsequent electrical components sized appropriately for 230 VAC per NEC standards.
2.2.3. Motor cooling fan cover shall be removable for service and held in place by threaded fasteners.
2.3. Fan Wheel and Fan Wheel Housing
2.3.1. AMCA Type B Spark Resistant Fan and Housing
2.3.2. Aluminum alloy fan wheel housing; no coating required
2.3.3. Cast aluminum alloy backward curved (BC) fan-wheel (for reduced noise). Fan wheel size ~11 inch x ~3 inch
2.3.4. Anti-galling compound shall be applied to motor shaft and fan wheel
2.3.5. All fasteners shall be coated with an anti-galling compound
2.3.6. The fan wheel shall be balanced statically and dynamically; balance adjustments shall be made by metal removal NOT by the addition of mass (i.e. fasteners, clips, welded weights). Metal shall NOT be removed from the blades of the fan wheel impeller
2.3.7. Bottom Horizontal (BH) discharge configuration
2.3.8. Inlet and discharge guards must be 4 to 6 inches in diameter. Standard inlet/outlet must be ready for “slip-on” duct connection or adapter. Do NOT use bolted flange style or slide-gate damper style connection.
2.4. Motor Controller
2.4.1. Provide NEMA 4x rated starter
2.4.2. Manually operated (push button start/stop) starter size 0, properly sized per motor nameplate data.
2.4.3. Provide over-current protection using heat strip, sized for approximately 14-15 Amps or nearest commercially available range of operation in accordance with NEC guidelines and motor nameplate data.
2.4.4. Provide 10 feet of 14AWG SOOW (600V, 90oC rated), 3 conductor (including ground) cable wired to motor controller.
2.4.5. (Connected to cable end) impact resistant 250V NEMA L6-20 twist lock three prong male plug. Mating plug must also be provided to facilitate connection to shipyard power supply cord. Parts similar to McMaster-Carr
P/N 9081T15 and 9081T35 are highly recommended. Connect and tape mating plugs together on blower cord for shipping.
2.5. Other Characteristics
2.5.1. The mounting base shall be lightweight, constructed of aluminum, and have the minimum size possible.
2.5.2. The unit shall have steel or aluminum carrying handle (brittle materials may not be used for the carrying handle).
2.5.3. Total weight of the unit shall be between 50 and 80 pounds.
2.6. OSHA, NEC, and NFPA COMPLIANCE
2.6.1. The equipment specified herein shall comply with the applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Electrical Code (NEC), and National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) regulations. The portable blower, as an entire assembly, shall have an NRTL field evaluation to be UL listed certified. Portions of the system, which are standard components such as electrical components shall be listed by one of the OSHA accredited Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTL) or approved in accordance with 29CFR1910. Approval shall be as specified under the “Approval” and “Acceptance” criteria in the OSHA regulations Subpart “O”, paragraph 1910.212 and Subpart “S”, paragraphs 1910.303 &1910.399.
2.7. DELIVERABLES
2.7.1. The blower(s) shall be delivered with 2 EA hard copies of documentation to include:
Operate and service instructions for motor
Motor specs, brand, serial number, and nameplate data
Service instructions for the removal and installation of fan wheel. Instructions shall identify the correct wheel pulling-tool.
Parts list and assembly drawing for the blower assembly, base, and handle. The motor may be shown as a single unit.
Certified fan performance curve
Noise rating data (dB)
Electrical schematic
Product weight as fully assembled and operational
2.7.2. The fan wheel housing of each unit shall have an engraved and/or riveted metal label plate indicating the following:
Fan rotation arrow
Spark Resistance in accordance with AMCA Std. 99-0401, Type B
Vendor name, address, and phone number
UL Listed Certification Label (as an assembly)
Unit Model Number
2.7.3. OSHA Compliance Report – this report documents the results of all tests performed, provides an assessment of the equipment performance for compliance with the contract requirements and forms a basis for recommending a safety certification. The report, test, and evaluation shall be a composite of those inspection requirements specified in the contract. The report shall include, but is not limited, to the following:
List of all tests performed any by who witnessed
List of data used for evaluation
Tabulation of all discrepancies related to specification performance requirements
Description of limitations revealed by data utilized
Actions taken to mitigate each discrepancy and limitation
Recommendations for subsequent actions
Summary conclusions
Manufacturer Certification that equipment has been manufactured and installed in compliance with
29CFR1910, paragraph 1910.399 (per definition of “acceptable”)
