Summary of Sheridan Rd BP2 New Build - Addendum 1
This is an Addendum to the Bid Package 2 (New Build) for the Sheridan Rd School project in Lansing, Michigan, issued by The Christman Company as construction manager on behalf of the Lansing School District. Addendum 1, issued on July 31, 2026, modifies the scope of work for multiple trade contractors and includes updates to project documents. The bid due date is August 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Lansing School District Administration Building (519 W Kalamazoo St., Lansing, MI 48933). The pre-bid meeting was held on July 21, 2026, at 1:30 PM on site, with 67 participants representing various trade contractors and subcontractors. The addendum includes modifications to special provisions, updates to work category specifications and notes (WC00, WC02, WC05, WC07A, WC08, WC14, WC15, WC18, WC26, WC27, WC28), additional unit rates for the bid proposal form, updated drawings across civil, structural, and architectural disciplines, and updated specification sections. The project schedule indicates footings, foundations, and storm water work beginning in October 2026, with completion targeted for Spring 2028. Post-bid interviews for low qualified bidders are scheduled to occur immediately after bids are received.
The bidding documents require a bid bond, with breakdown pricing for payment and performance bonds. RFIs were due July 28, 2026, at 5:00 PM, and many RFI responses were still pending at the time of addendum issuance with answers to be provided in future addendums. Work is subject to site-specific requirements including no tobacco use on district property, adherence to Lansing noise ordinances, and compliance with site hours established by the construction manager. The Christman Company will provide temporary utilities including water, restrooms (portable toilets), and parking on site. Contractors must coordinate with SC Technologies for HVAC controls, which is the sole specified controls contractor. All trade contractors are required to submit shop drawings and submittals within two weeks of contract award, and the project requires Building Information Modeling (BIM) for MEP systems coordination and off-site pre-fabricated assemblies. The project does not require prevailing wages. Pay applications are due the 25th of each month and must be submitted through the Trade Contractor Portal with fully executed sworn statements and unconditional waivers listing all subcontractors and suppliers.

Q:
Emma VanderMaas Sent Mon Jul 27, 2026 at 02:19 pm EDT Interior CMU Partition detail 23 on drawing S0.3 indicates a solid concrete masonry unit directly beneath the steel clip connection.
To reduce the risk of injury associated with handling solid concrete units due to their significantly greater weight, would the Engineer permit the use of a fully grouted standard hollow CMU in lieu of a solid concrete masonry unit at these locations? The proposed fully grouted CMU would provide equivalent bearing, anchorage, and structural performance while improving worker safety and reducing the risk of lifting-related injuries.
Please confirm that a fully grouted CMU is acceptable in lieu of the specified solid concrete masonry unit at these locations.
