2020 Campus AV Upgrade Project The AV team is requesting AV equipment for the 2020 Campus Conference Room AV upgrade project. This upgrade project is to renew and upgrade outdated AV equipment in Bldg4 Room 433, Bldg31 Executive Conference Room, Bldg33 Room 1N09. These three rooms have the obsolete Clearone analog tri-element microphones in use. Due to poor microphone performance, choice, and placement, there have been complaints about poor audio quality during video conference calls from far-end users. The Clearone microphone is not adequate to effectively cover the mid to large-sized conference room. The Shure MXA-910W ceiling array microphone is the only microphone that will meet technical requirements such as customizable audio pickup pattern. The AV team has deployed this microphone to technically and acoustically challenging rooms across NIAID in the past and it proved to significantly outperform conventional analong ceiling microphones. This product also requires the purchase of the Shure A910-HCM ceiling mount. The Shure ULX wireless microphone system is the established standard for all NIAID conference room AV systems.
The new Biamp AVB network beam tracking microphones and Shure Dante network beamforming microphones utilizes advanced audio tracking technology. They will provide superior audio quality compared to conventional analog type microphones. The Inogeni – Share 2 is the dual video USB 3.1 generation 1 capture device and is the established standard for all new NIAID conference room AV systems. This product has already been justified and approved as a brand name only requirement.
Along with the audio upgrade, the AV team is upgrading video systems in Bldg4 Room 433 as the existing projector and wall-mounted monitors cannot provide optimum viewing experience to meeting participants in the room. The new NEC 86” commercial TV monitors will provide better color accuracy, contrast, and brightness over the front projection system.
Crestron is the AV manufacturer used for control and switching equipment for NIAID. Substitutions are not allowed as Crestron equipment is compatible with our existing monitoring and audiovisual ecosystems. Using Crestron is a vital part of continuing AV framework associated with a structured audiovisual design, control, and configuration.
