STATEMENT OF WORK

NOAA Ship Bell M. Shimada – Fish Table Modifications

NM-AN2190-22-00489

PURPOSE:

Shimada uses an approximately 6’9” x 4’11’’ x 2’4’’ table with removable sides to contain fish deposited from a suspended net (images included). The table has hydraulic rams and a pivot arm which allow it to be inclined to allow the fish to be transferred into the adjacent space for sorting. The objective is to replace the existing system of wooden slats with removable aluminum sides and a functional aft facing hinged door. The new aluminum structure should fit securely onto the existing base and be free of any sharp edges or protrusions which could snag a net. Ship also requests fabrication of an extended frame structure that slants inboard to guide the cod end of a fishing net towards the opening of the table. Images of an existing assembly that meets the requirements are included, this assembly is in use on NOAA Ship Oscar Dyson.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

All materials used in fabrication of this assembly shall be marine grade corrosion resistant.

Structure shall be of sufficient strength to withstand 146 lbs/ft^2 Existing table is available for site visit at NOAA MOC-P 2002 SE Marine Science Drive, Newport, OR 97365.

Contractor is to make proposal for design to be approved by ship’s Chief Boatswain Bruce Knoepke prior to proceeding with fabrication.
