The Virginia Department of Education awarded DonorsChoose a contract (PO05489633) valued at $500,000 effective October 5, 2026. Under this award, DonorsChoose will administer a grant program designed to provide classroom supplies and materials to early-career educators in Virginia's public school system. The program targets teachers within their first two years of service, with individual grants capped at $750 per recipient to support classroom operations and instructional materials.

The $500,000 cumulative contract value represents a first-year appropriation from Virginia's general fund allocated as a lump sum award. DonorsChoose will serve as the administrative entity responsible for grant distribution, application processing, and fund management across Virginia's public school network. The specific period of performance beyond the initial award date and any renewal or option periods are not detailed in the available documentation.
