The Virginia Department of Education awarded a contract to Teach For America D.C. and Virginia under purchase order PO05441287, effective August 17, 2026, with a cumulative value of $500,000. The contract supports the Teach for America Program through grants and contracts for fees and financial incentives designed to facilitate teacher recruitment and hiring in challenged schools throughout Virginia.

The first-year allocation of $500,000 derives from the Virginia general fund and is structured as a single lump-sum line item. The contract contains flexibility provisions permitting the reallocation of any unobligated funds within the fiscal year to support the Teacher Residency program, thereby maximizing resource utilization across teacher development initiatives. The deliverables focus on providing financial support mechanisms to incentivize qualified educators to serve in high-need educational settings.
