Contract PO05405988

Beckstrom Electric Co Inc was awarded a contract by George Mason University on July 14, 2026, valued at $12,705.00 to perform electrical repairs and upgrades at the Masonvale location in Virginia. The scope of work addresses hidden conditions discovered during the original quoted scope of work, specifically two failed sections of underground feeder (UF) cable located beneath pavement and a sidewalk. The contractor will supply, install, and wire replacement feeder cable using underground directional boring to bypass the failed sections and avoid extensive pavement removal. Additionally, Beckstrom Electric will install ground boxes near existing pole lights to intercept the existing feed and transition power into the fixtures at two locations, followed by installation of new feeder cable into the pole lights and comprehensive testing of all new wiring and connections.

The project involves directional boring along the pathway to minimize surface disturbance, with affected grass areas to be tamped and raked upon completion. Restoration activities including grass seeding and soil replacement will be performed by others. The contract is identified as GMUCM07262401, with performance taking place at George Mason University's Masonvale facility in Virginia. Christopher Thorpe serves as the point of contact for the awarding organization and will receive deliverables at cthorpe1@gmu.edu. The contract represents an expansion of the original scope necessitated by field conditions that could not be identified during conventional troubleshooting methods.
