George Mason University, located in Virginia, awarded a contract to Umashankar Mahadevaiah for consulting services supporting the Center for Collision Safety and Analysis on a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)-sponsored research initiative titled "Limousine Crashworthiness Safety Research." The contract, identified as PO04936469-V3, carries a cumulative value of $60,000.00 and spans the performance period from February 25, 2025, through December 9, 2026. Under the Statement of Work, the consultant will support the development of finite element (FE) models for Mercedes Sprinter and Cadillac Escalade limousines. Specific tasks include establishing and executing component simulations (seats and belts), sled tests, and full vehicle simulations using the newly developed FE models, as well as validating these models against existing test data with respect to structural performance. Deliverables include updated vehicle FE models and PowerPoint presentations documenting results, analyses, and conclusions, to be delivered to Rudolf Reichert.
