The Jackson Laboratory has been awarded a contract by Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, effective August 20, 2026, for the procurement of laboratory animals and related shipping services. The contract is valued at $1,920.96 and involves the delivery of 27 male C57BL/6J mice at 11 weeks of age, priced at $60.48 per unit, along with three shipping containers and freight services at $96.00 per unit. The delivery location is identified as Department Shared, with the contact phone number (540) 231-9308.

This award represents a straightforward procurement of research-grade laboratory animals and associated logistics services for Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. The contract's modest cumulative value and line item structure indicate a single-purchase transaction rather than a multi-year or requirements-based agreement. The specific mouse strain, age specification, and quantified shipment requirements reflect the precision requirements typical of academic research operations requiring standardized biological specimens.
