About this award
Texas awarded contract 26-01976 to PYROCOM SYSTEMS, INC. on March 12, 2026, for fire alarm system maintenance and repair services at Fort Bliss Armed Forces Reserve Center (AFRC). The fire alarm system at the facility had become inoperable and required extensive repairs, as the system failure had disabled electronic access controls to all exit doors, resulting in a complete lockdown that prevented personnel egress. The contract addresses critical infrastructure restoration necessary to restore normal facility operations and eliminate immediate safety and security concerns.
The scope of work encompasses repairs to the fire alarm system and associated electronic access control systems. The repair work is required to restore functionality to the exit door controls and resume normal facility operations, thereby eliminating the need for continuous physical security presence and reducing operational strain on the facility's HVAC system. Services are classified under UNSPSC code 92121702 (Fire alarm maintenance or monitoring) and NIGP code 93609 (Alarm Equipment Maintenance/Repair). Specific contract value and period of performance details were not provided in the available documentation.
Description
Fire Alarm System at Ft Bliss AFRC is currently inoperable and needs extensive repair. This afternoon, the electronic access controls to ALL Exit doors failed, causing all doors to lock down. No personnel can exit the building. The doors are controlled by the fire alarm system, therefore repairs are needed as soon as possible. All Exit doors are currently propped open, but this facility will have to be physically guarded until repairs can be complete, as the doors must remain propped open in order for personnel to exit the facility.
There is not only a physical security threat to the facility with doors propped open, but this will also strain the HVAC system.
