About this award
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) awarded a term contract to The Townsend Group, Inc. for the procurement of a customized Resistol Western-style straw hat. The specific hat ordered is an ivory-colored hat with black trim, featuring a 4-inch brim and 4.125-inch crown in a long oval shape, sized 7 1/8. The contract, identified as 26158063, was issued on January 16, 2026, with a unit price of $126.20 for a single hat to be delivered to the Birch Creek Unit of Lake Somerville State Park in Somerville, Texas.
The contract, processed through the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts - Statewide Procurement Division, has a delivery timeline of July 15, 2026, with a 180-day delivery period after receipt of order. The purchase is specifically for Morgan Harbison and is exempt from federal excise and sales taxes under Texas Tax Code, Section 151.309(4), as the property is intended for exclusive state use. The contract's cumulative value is reported as $126, suggesting this is a singular, specialized procurement rather than a large-volume contract.
