American Dark Fiber LLC was awarded a contract by the California Department of Technology on February 16, 2026, to support the California Middle-Mile Broadband Network. The 20-year contract, with a completion date of February 15, 2046, carries a total contract value of approximately $52.9 million. The scope of work encompasses the installation and construction of interconnection and splice points as components of a fiber optic communications system for the California Department of Technology's use in connection with the broadband infrastructure initiative.

The contract includes two primary line items for fiber optic system installation and construction, valued at approximately $5.9 million and $37.0 million respectively, along with a maintenance and operations services component valued at approximately $10.0 million. These services fall under the Non-IT Services category, specifically exempt by statute under California law. The extended performance period through 2046 indicates a long-term commitment to both the initial infrastructure deployment and ongoing operational support of the fiber optic communications system.
