About this IDV
This Indefinite Delivery Contract (IDC) was awarded by the Department of the Army Acquisition Support Center, Program Executive Office Ground Combat Systems to General Dynamics Land Systems Inc. (GDLS) to upgrade up to 786 M1A1 Abrams tanks to the newly configured Abrams M1A2 System Enhancement Package Version 3 (SEPv3). The $3.18 billion, three-year requirements contract involves the installation and integration of the SEPV3 technologies (hardware and software), as well as the reclamation and refurbishment of legacy Abrams components, resulting in the newly configured M1A2 vehicles. In addition, the contract covers the upgrade of M1A1 vehicles to M1A2S (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) and M1A2-K (Kuwait) configurations. The work will be performed at GDLS's facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
Several delivery orders have been issued under this IDC, including a $775.5 million award to procure additional Authorized Stockage List (ASL), Supply Technician Tools and Equipment (STTE), and Integrated Logistics Support System (ILSS) items, as well as a $740.4 million order for the procurement of 174 Abrams vehicle upgrades. These delivery orders demonstrate the Army's continued need to sustain and modernize its ground vehicle fleet through this established contract vehicle with the prime contractor GDLS, a major defense manufacturer with extensive expertise in military platforms and logistical support.
