About this award

This $195,374 National Endowment for the Humanities project grant supports the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts to retain five staff members engaged in collections stewardship and inaugural exhibition planning activities. Funded through the Promotion of the Humanities Division of Preservation and Access program, the one-year award enables the museum to employ a preparator, two assistant registrars, an associate curator and an exhibition designer. These staff will oversee the conservation of the museum's 14,000-object art collection, coordinate incoming and outgoing loans, and install exhibitions and public programs as the museum prepares for its May 2022 reopening in newly renovated facilities. The expected outcomes include continued smooth museum operations and a successful public reopening showcasing curated collections and special exhibitions for students, teachers and the general public. No subrecipient activities are planned under this award providing direct support for critical museum services.
