The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration awarded a $2,175,000 Project Grant to YWCA Rhode Island on August 20, 2021 under the VA Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program (CFDA 64.024). The funding will support YWCA Rhode Island's efforts to reduce congregate living and create individual living units for homeless veterans. Specifically, the grant capital funding will go towards converting existing housing from congregate facilities into individual units, thereby providing homeless veterans with more independent living arrangements. The VA Homeless Providers GPD Program aims to develop and promote the use of programs that provide transitional housing and supportive services to homeless veterans, with the goal of facilitating their achievement of residential stability, increased skill levels and/or income, and greater self-determination.
