State approaches include strengthening partnerships and collaborations, improving state-level data surveillance on maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity, and promoting innovation in maternal health service delivery.
Performance runs from September 30, 2025, through September 29, 2028, with place of performance in Maryland. The Special Projects of Regional and National Significance Program supports maternal and child health projects including training, research, oral health integration, genetic disease testing and counseling, and newborn screening. Competitive awards under this program are typically made for two to five years, subject to availability of funds; after initial awards, annual noncompetitive funding may be made contingent upon progress reports and continued federal interest.
