This Project Grant award from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (CFDA 93.279 - Drug Use and Addiction Research Programs) provides $366,377 to The Leland Stanford Junior University (Stanford University) to support an Interdisciplinary Research Training Program in Maternal and Childhood Pain.
The key objectives of this 5-year program are to train the next generation of diverse scientific leaders in maternal and/or child pain research. The program will provide mentorship and research opportunities for 5 postdoctoral fellows per year, focusing on areas such as bioinformatics, pain across the lifespan, non-pharmacological interventions, prevention of acute to chronic pain, and advancing health equity in pain. The training will integrate the biopsychosocial model of pain, utilize a team science approach, center on whole person health, and involve patient participatory research methods. Fellows will receive advanced statistical and research method training, as well as grantsmanship skills to prepare them for academic careers in clinical pain research.
