The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) awarded a $213,180 Project Grant under the Biomedical Research and Research Training program (CFDA 93.859) to New York University (NYU) to support a Chemistry-Biology Interface Predoctoral Training Program (CBITP). The 5-year grant, effective July 1, 2025, will provide interdisciplinary education and research training at the interface of chemistry and biology, with a focus on two biomedical themes: chemical cancer biology and chemical microbiology. The program will involve participation from four NYU science departments and emphasize joint mentoring from different disciplines, scientific rigor and communication, and career development opportunities outside academia. The program will fund four predoctoral trainees per year to conduct innovative research projects that leverage expertise spanning fields such as developmental biology, genomics, cell signaling, organic chemistry, bioinformatics, and neuroscience.
