Chicago park district veterans programming, specialty clinics, sports challenges, valor games midwest, windy city winter sports clinic, TRY scuba experiences, and summer sports showcase

The Chicago Park District received a $169,216.34 Project Grant award from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) through the VA Grants for Adaptive Sports Programs for Disabled Veterans and Disabled Members of the Armed Forces program (CFDA 64.034). This one-year grant will fund the planning, development, and implementation of adaptive sports programming and events for disabled veterans and armed forces members. Supported activities include specialty sports clinics, competitive challenges like the Valor Games Midwest, the Windy City Winter Sports Clinic, try scuba experiences, and a summer sports showcase. The grant enables the Chicago Park District to deliver a range of recreational, therapeutic, and skill-building opportunities that promote the rehabilitation and community reintegration of individuals with physical and mental disabilities. This award builds on the Park District's prior participation in VA-funded adaptive sports initiatives as well as its broader history of leveraging federal grants to provide enrichment programs and environmental conservation efforts for Chicago residents.
