The Department of State Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs awarded $481,262.07 under the Public Diplomacy Programs federal grant to develop and implement an English language curriculum and teacher training program in Lebanon. The Uspeak organization will deliver an English language course to 1,540 women in 62 clusters throughout Lebanon from July 2021 to July 2023. In addition to the core 6-month language instruction, the program includes leadership training and a 6-day teacher training. The Public Diplomacy Programs (CFDA 19.040) aim to inform and influence foreign audiences to advance U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives. This award supports those goals by expanding English language education and relationships between the U.S. and Lebanese people.
