North carolina institute of minority economic development

The National Institute of Minority Economic Development (NIMED), a non-profit organization and community development corporation in Durham, North Carolina, has been awarded a $150,000 Project Grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) under the Women's Business Ownership Assistance program (CFDA 59.043). This grant will enable NIMED to deliver training, counseling, and technical assistance to support small businesses owned and controlled by women, particularly those who are socially and economically disadvantaged, with the goal of removing discriminatory barriers these businesses face in accessing capital, markets, management, and other critical resources for growth. NIMED has a longstanding history of receiving federal grant funding to carry out its mission of supporting minority and women entrepreneurs, including cooperative agreements with the Department of Transportation to increase participation of disadvantaged and women-owned firms in DOT contracts.
