Office of women's business ownership

The National Institute of Minority Economic Development (NIMED) was awarded a $150,000 Project Grant by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) under the Women's Business Ownership Assistance program (CFDA 59.043). The grant will fund NIMED's delivery of training, counseling, and technical assistance services to support minority and women-owned small businesses in North Carolina. These services aim to help remove discriminatory barriers that women entrepreneurs face in accessing capital, markets, management, and other critical resources for business growth. As a leading provider of specialized business support, NIMED has received over $5 million in prime federal grants from the SBA, Department of Transportation, and other agencies to fulfill its mission of assisting minority and women-owned enterprises. The award period for this grant is August 1, 2023 through July 31, 2024.
