The University of Arizona and its partner organizations will develop an innovative training program under a $196,356.64 Project Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services' Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program. The training program will bring together digital preservation experts and cultural heritage practitioners from under-resourced organizations to collaborate in preparing digital preservation peer assessments. Participants will learn digital preservation concepts and assessment procedures to employ on an ongoing basis, aiming to provide practicing librarians and archivists struggling to care for digital collections an opportunity to gain these skills in a supportive environment. Originally awarded to Arizona State University Library, the grant was transferred to the University of Arizona to undertake this work in partnership with the Sustainable Heritage Network, Black Metropolis Research Consortium, Association of Hawai'i Archivists, Northwest Archivists, Inc., and Amigos Library Services.
