- The National Cancer Institute awarded $400,000 to Dauntless Biotherapeutics, Inc. on August 11, 2026, under the Cancer Treatment Research program (CFDA 93.395) to develop CD155-targeted antibody-drug conjugates for metastatic and triple-negative breast cancer. The project advances therapeutic candidates that combine direct tumor cytotoxicity with restoration of anti-tumor immunity. CD155 is expressed in over 60% of breast cancers, including triple-negative, HER2-positive, and HER2-low...
- The National Institutes of Health National Cancer Institute awarded The Washington University $399,829 under the Cancer Treatment Research program (CFDA 93.395) on April 1, 2026, to conduct rational design of next-generation engineered T cells for enhanced cancer immunotherapy. The research addresses limited persistence of engineered T cells in cancer treatment by harnessing 4-1BB (CD137/TNFRSF9), a co-stimulatory molecule, through structure-informed protein design. Current 4-1BB chimeric...
- The National Cancer Institute awarded Health Research, Inc. (Roswell Park Division), doing business as Health Research At Roswell Park, $446,112 on September 1, 2026, under the Cancer Treatment Research program (CFDA 93.395) to conduct enhanced targeted therapy research for colorectal cancer. The research tests the synergistic potential of combining MAPK kinase cascade inhibitors with ribavirin, a GTP synthesis inhibitor, against BRAF- and RAS-mutated colorectal cancer. Work includes testing...
- The National Cancer Institute awarded Cytoagents Inc. $1,313,567 on September 22, 2025, under the Cancer Treatment Research program (CFDA 93.395) to develop and advance CTO1681, a pharmaceutical compound designed to prevent and mitigate cytokine release syndrome in multiple myeloma patients receiving CAR T-cell therapy. CTO1681 is an orally available compound that reduces transcription of proinflammatory cytokines implicated in cytokine release syndrome, a severe systemic inflammatory response...
- The National Institutes of Health National Cancer Institute awarded Oncotab, Inc. $1,130,587 on August 1, 2026, under the Cancer Treatment Research program (CFDA 93.395) to conduct Phase II SBIR research on a bispecific antibody T-cell engager (muCD3) combined with chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer treatment. Oncotab will advance muCD3 through preclinical studies designed to de-risk its path toward first-in-human trials and commercialization. The work includes evaluating muCD3 structural...
- The National Cancer Institute, part of the Department of Health and Human Services, awarded The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York $635,722 on July 23, 2026, under the Cancer Treatment Research program (CFDA 93.395) to advance probiotic-guided CAR-T cell therapy toward clinical application. The project, titled "Advancing ProCAR Therapy Toward Clinical Application," addresses limitations in current engineered cell therapies for treating solid tumors. Specifically,...
- The National Cancer Institute awarded Pearl Scientific Inc. $392,695 on September 18, 2025, under the Cancer Treatment Research program (CFDA 93.395) to develop and validate humanized SEMA7A-antagonist monoclonal antibodies for the therapeutic treatment of breast cancer. Pearl Scientific will identify and validate humanized SEMA7A-antagonist monoclonal antibodies with high binding affinity, characterize their efficacy in blocking SEMA7A-mediated mechanisms and tumor growth, and assess their...
- The National Cancer Institute awarded Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research $1,467,021 on April 1, 2026, under the Cancer Treatment Research program (CFDA 93.395) to investigate tumor regenerative cell populations and develop L1CAM-targeted antibody-drug conjugates that may overcome resistance to neoadjuvant therapy in locally advanced rectal cancer. The project will use genomic and transcriptomic analysis of pre-treatment rectal tumors, mechanistic studies in patient-derived organoid...
- The National Cancer Institute awarded Matrisome Bio, Inc. $3,481,203 on September 23, 2025, under the Cancer Treatment Research program (CFDA 93.395) to develop an extracellular matrix-targeted theranostic radiopharmaceutical for metastatic lung cancer. Matrisome Bio is developing molecularly targeted drugs based on nanobodies that specifically target disease-associated extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins highly expressed in lung cancer and other cancer indications while minimally expressed in...
The National Cancer Institute of the Department of Health and Human Services awarded $400,000 to Xtop Biotherapeutics Inc. on August 13, 2026, under the Cancer Treatment Research program (CFDA 93.395) to fund research and development of CB-101, a novel trispecific antibody targeting ROR1, EPCAM, and CD3 for treatment of colorectal cancer and other solid tumors. CB-101 is engineered using a proprietary crossbody platform designed to address limitations of existing T-cell engagers by reducing on-target, off-tumor toxicity and cytokine release syndrome risk. The antibody incorporates a FAB fragment targeting receptor tyrosine kinase-like orphan receptor 1 (ROR1) and crossbody fragments targeting epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EPCAM) and CD3. In xenograft models, CB-101 has demonstrated complete tumor remission. The funding supports the continuation of development and evaluation of this therapeutic approach. Work is performed in Worcester, Massachusetts. The project period extends from the award date through July 31, 2027. This is a Project Grant, classified as Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) support to a small business concern.
