The National Institute on Aging (NIA) awarded a $499,796 Project Grant (CFDA 93.866 - Aging Research) to Clear Session, Inc. in partnership with UTHealth Houston. The goal of this 3-year project, beginning on Sep 25, 2024, is to develop an innovative digital visualization tool to enhance healthcare communication and engagement between Latino Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) patients, their caregivers, and healthcare providers. The tool is designed to break down complex medical information in a linguistically- and culturally-tailored manner, improving comprehension and reducing communication barriers around literacy, numeracy, and education. The visual activities and animations generated during patient-provider discussions can also be saved and shared with family members to improve information retention. This project aims to have a significant positive impact by facilitating more effective, culturally competent communication between ADRD patients, their caregivers, and healthcare providers.
