This Project Grant award from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), under the Child Health and Human Development Extramural Research program (CFDA 93.865), will support the development and pilot testing of an innovative intervention to improve postpartum family planning (PPFP) services in Zambia. The $781,926 award to Emory University will fund formative research to evaluate structural, contextual, individual, and couple-level factors influencing healthy birth intervals, as well as the development and pilot testing of PPFP training and promotional tools, workflows, and engagement of PPFP champions. This project aims to address the high unmet need for PPFP services in Zambia and has the potential to create a sustainable, replicable model for improving PPFP services to reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality. The award period runs from September 2024 through August 2026.
