Federal Project Grant Award Summary

Emory University's Office of Sponsored Programs received a $234,750 Project Grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) under the Allergy and Infectious Diseases Research program (CFDA 93.855) for the "TBGWAS Proteomics" project. The award, dated June 2, 2026, extends through May 31, 2028, and supports investigator-initiated biomedical research addressing tuberculosis (TB), which remains the leading infectious disease cause of death worldwide. The research initiative focuses on proteomics analysis and genome-wide association studies to advance understanding of TB transmission mechanisms and host-pathogen interactions, contributing to NIAID's broader mission to establish, expand, and improve research capacity addressing infectious diseases and related immunologic disorders.

As a premier academic research institution with extensive expertise in infectious disease research and clinical studies, Emory University will conduct the research at its Atlanta, Georgia location, leveraging existing infrastructure and research capabilities to deliver scientific knowledge and methodological advances. The project aligns with current federal priorities emphasizing collaborative, multidisciplinary research networks and translational science initiatives addressing urgent public health challenges in infectious disease prevention and treatment.
