This $330,000 Project Grant award from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) under the Child Health and Human Development Extramural Research program (CFDA 93.865) aims to characterize the functional and anatomical connectivity of motor pathways in children with unilateral cerebral palsy (UCP). The primary objectives are to use multimodal neuroimaging techniques, including functional near-infrared spectroscopy and transcranial magnetic stimulation, to identify atypical brain reorganization patterns and relate them to impairments in unimanual and bimanual upper-extremity function. This research, conducted by Trustees of Boston University, will serve as a critical precursor to developing individualized rehabilitation approaches for improving hand function in children with UCP. The project period runs from July 2024 to June 2026.
