The key products and services to be delivered include: Evaluating the relative impacts on phonemic awareness, reading,...
This Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation's Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences (CFDA 47.075) program provides $320,000 to Northeastern University to conduct research on the neurocognitive development of learning in adolescents. The project aims to understand the cognitive and brain mechanisms related to learning from experience and how these change from childhood to adolescence and young adulthood. Key research approaches include behavioral, computational, and...
This Project Grant award from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), under the federal Child Health and Human Development Extramural Research program (CFDA 93.865), provides $134,568 to the Regents of the University of Michigan to fund research aimed at understanding the cognitive neural signatures of childhood maltreatment in adolescents. The goal is to advance the science of targeted academic intervention for this vulnerable population. The...
The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a $466,640 Project Grant under the Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences (CFDA 47.075) program to The Trustees of Princeton University. The award, titled "CAREER: The Receptive Field as a Window into the Developing Brain," supports research to measure how the parietal lobe and cerebellum in the brain mature during typical development and support a child's ability to visually attend to their environment. The project aims to understand...
This Project Grant award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) under the Trans-NIH Research Support program (CFDA 93.310) is supporting a clinical trial to assess the effects and underlying mechanisms of an innovative approach to treating math learning disabilities in 6-8 year old children. The $200,000 award, effective August 1, 2025, aims to evaluate the impact of an intervention that provides coordinated cognitive training and direct math skills instruction, with a focus on improving...

This Project Grant award of $2,424,192, provided by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) under CFDA Program 93.865 Child Health and Human Development Extramural Research, supports a research project titled "Predicting Intervention Outcomes in Reading Disabled Students Using In-School Cognitive Neuroscience".

The primary objectives of this award are to: 1) Establish trajectories and predictors of reading gains in reading disabled students at learning disability schools using standardized measures and school-based instructional data; 2) Empirically test the predictive utility and trajectories of three theoretically motivated behavioral and neurobiological measures of reading; 3) Assess the generalizability of the findings by including a diverse sample of readers from public and charter schools; and 4) Investigate the multivariate relations between the behavioral, neural, and instructional measures and reading growth across the different student samples. This research will be conducted through a collaborative effort between the University of Connecticut and Yale University, with Yale overseeing the neuroimaging data collection and analysis. The award period runs from September 2024 through May 2029.
