The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) awarded a $313,520 Project Grant (CFDA 93.859 Biomedical Research and Research Training) to the Regents of the University of Michigan to develop the RNP-MAP technology into a broad-spectrum toolset for discovering, defining, and targeting RNA-protein complexes in live cells. The 5-year project aims to create new methods for 1) mapping multi-protein networks on RNA, 2) mapping transcriptome-wide targets of RNA-binding proteins, and 3) mapping small molecule RNA-targeting potential inside cells. The goal is to provide researchers a set of tools to identify, characterize, and target RNA-protein interfaces relevant to their disease, pathway, or model of interest, enabling new RNA biology discoveries and RNA-targeted therapeutics.
