Description

Iran's virtual museum of modernity [this project involves the development of a 3-year strategic plan for a digital humanities archive, which will explore the persian enlightenment ERA from the mid-19TH century to the early 20TH century. The project, entitled iran?s virtual museum of modernity, will highlight an often-overlooked aspect of the ancient nation?s history: its rich engagement with modernity, civil society, and secularism. The museum will focus on three central historical pillars during persia?s hidden ERA: first, its unique relationship with the united states, and the cross-cultural exchanges that led to the development of civil society in persia; second, the proliferation of new cultural movements, reflected in the literary works of writers and philosophers who explored modern themes; and finally, economic modernization?namely, the transition away from a semi-feudal arrangement toward industrialization and capitalism.]
