The U.S. Department of the Interior's National Park Service awarded a $263,834 Project Grant under the Outdoor Recreation Acquisition, Development and Planning program (CFDA 15.916) to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will sub-grant the award to the City of Murray, Iowa to renovate and develop Mallory Park. The project will replace an aging and unsafe playground and add a 1,570 sq. ft. splash pad with a 942 sq. ft. wet area with overhead and ground sprays. The renovations will provide children with a larger, modern play area and safer recreational activities, breathing new life into the park. The project will begin on October 1, 2024 and is scheduled for completion by September 30, 2027.
